Women Empowerment
The most famous saying by the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is “To awaken the people, it is the women who must be awakened. Once she is on the move, the family moves, the village moves, the nation moves.” Our nation needs to transform our colossal women force into an effective human resource and this is possible only through the empowerment of women. R.K. Trust initiated its activities towards the empowerment of women.
Women empowerment is very necessary to make the bright future of the family, society and country. Women need fresh and more capable environment so that they can take their own right decisions in every area whether for themselves, family, society or country. Hence, as a first step R.K. Trust focused on women empowerment programme. Women empowerment programmes are conducted with the association of other institutions.



Usha Silai Schools
Usha silai schools is a community based initiative of Usha International Ltd with the aim of empowering village women to become entrepreneurs and teach sewing and stitching within the precincts of their homes. Under this programme R.K.Trust identified 20 women headed households who are widows, deserted, and destitute women and provided 3 days advanced training in tailoring in Feb 2016 and guidance were provided to start their own institution at their home. 12 women initiated these schools at their home and admitted 3 to 5 women in their schools. They are earning Rs. 2000/ to 5000/per month. These schools are running successfully and the women are getting regular income.

Canara Bank Rural Self Employment Training Institute:
R.K.trust conducted 15 days training during the month of October 2016 with the support of Canara bank Rural self-employment training institute on home made products like Phenyl, Soap oil, Soap powder, Candle etc at Gudalur in which 35 women and girls participated. The officials assured the beneficiaries that they will recommend to bank to avail loan to start their own venture. 35 women are undergoing 21 days training on artificial jewellery making at Coonoor
Self Help Groups
In the present scenario, lack of sanitation facility and lack of educational awareness is a serious issue that makes the life of rural women miserable. Hence R.K. Trust is focusing on formation of self-help groups, sanitation, various awareness education programme and skill development trainings for women. Skill development among rural women is the need of the hour so as to make them confident, self-reliant and to develop in them the ability to be a part of decision making at home and outside. R.K. Trust is providing various skill training programmes in Coonoor and Gudalur Blocks of The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. Promoted 63 self- help groups of women in this block and linked with NDCC Bank, Gudalur to avail loan to undertake various income generation activities.
Leadership training programmes
Once in two months village level awareness and leadership training programmes being organised for women. Awareness on health issues, protection of child, family budgeting, attitude, Self introspection, opportunity, self -evaluation, and Goal settings are the topics covered in these training
