R.K. Trust has taken up a programme of rural sanitation in Coonoor and Gudalur Blocks of the Nilgiris District. Village level awareness campaigns have been organized to make them aware of the fact that they should not go barefoot for open defecation: should put soil on human excreta after defecation so that flies do not sit on excreta and in turn on the food, which is the main cause of diarrhea, dysentery, Cholera etc. Also stress the importance of construction of household toilets in order to protect them from above illness. R.K. Trust jointly working with the panchyat to achieve the goal of clean India and negotiated with the bankers to avail loan for the individual toilet construction

R.K.Trust assisted 45 families in Maragal village of Thummantty panchayat to avail loan   towards the construction of toilets
